Sunbirds

Here's a killer family portrait of Chris Keating of Towne Photography, based in Calgary, Alberta. He was sunbirding in Socal and Arizona for a few weeks. 4 weeks in RV with a family including a new 6 week old baby, Mad?. Carolyne is one of those very calm people which is probably what makes it work.

He's a great businessman and takes lovely portraits, next time you visit the frozen tundra pop in and say hello. 

Valentine's Day Out

Sometimes it's nice to get out of the studio and record a bit of family life. We had a lovely Family Valentine's Day at went over to the THE LAB in Costa Mesa for lunch. I took a borrowed Canon 85 mm 1.2 prime lens and got some lovely colorful shots of the girls and even had a chance to do a little digital art into the bargain.

They have a great waterfall sculpture. And some wonderfully colored wall art and surfaces. Lunch at the Habana Cafe was as good as usual, if you haven't eaten there yet it's worth a visit. Here's a funny article by OC Weekly's Gustavo Arellano all about it.

The finished image was the result of two separate sessions, one of the family flew down from the Bay Area one week before the main session, we shot him. Then had the rest of the family come in the next weekend

I should also say that the family session was tons of fun, the kids were full of energy, the boy kind of reminded me of Tigger, just bouncier.

It's always fun with two girls at a about this is age they get all silly when you dress them up and point a camera at them, makes for some memorable shots though.

These are our friends and family from the big house. We had a marvelous thanksgiving and Santa turned up at our studio the next day which made for some great pictures although the kids could have cared less. Thanks people.

A day of culture in L.A? really?
